Was "Island Maid" a boat manufacturer?

My dad gave me a boat and he told me it was an Island Maid but I cannot find any information about this manufacturer online so I was wondering if maybe they go by a different name or if my dad may be mistaken?

I just bought a 14" aluminum Boat made by Nader I cant find any info on this manufacturer. Any Ideas?????

Just bought the boat manufacturer is "Nader" I cant find any info on it and no hull plate. When I search all I find is Ralf Nader. I just want to research a little to find out the approximate age of the boat. Any help is greatly appreciated.

i need new spindles on my boat trailer?

tore up one of my spindles and need to replace it and while im at it the other side also. they are welded on to the axle so i will need to bring it in to have it done. my question is this. the overall length of my current spindle is 7.5 and its tapered. i cant find that size spindle new. they are all 8 to 8.25. does this extra 3/4 inch matter. i have tried to contact the original boat manufacturer but their useless

Which boat manufacturer makes cruisers with outboard engines?

I’ve looked at some of the common boats such as Sea Ray, Chapparal and Bayliner, but I am looking for cruisers that has larger kitchens and outboard engines. There is so many types of boats out there, where do I start my search? It MUST be a full outboard engine, not inboard/outboard… the reason for this is ease of maintenance. As far as size goes, I am looking for around 27-31′. The thing is, I only need a 27′ boat, but I want a big kitchen. Do any manufacturers put a large kitchen in a 27′ size boat? Thank you. If someone can help me with this I will not only make it the best answer but I will be thankful forever.
One of the boats I found that I really like is the Pursuit OS 285 and 315. Both look well built and have outboard engines. However, they both seem geared towards fishing, and also the kitchens are very small.

I just got my boating license and i was just wondering what a good beginner boat would be for boating around in my neighborhood lake. Also i have been sailing for 4 years i just got my license that will allow me to operate a motorized boat under adult supervision

Why have car manufacturers never installed compasses as standard equipment on cars?

This is the most basic and simple navigation tool since the dawn of time. Boat manufacturers install them as standard equipment, why not car manufacturers? I know you can get them as ‘luxury’ items, as digital compasses.

I am aware that you can’t put compasses too close to the dash, due to EM interference; however, compasses work fine when stuck on the winshield or near the sunvisor.

Every car I’ve had, I’ve gone out and bought a compass for. This should not be necessary.

People are so lazy today, they can’t even look at a paper map. Also, they pay 00 for a talking gps display when you can get a handheld gps for under 0. Microsoft Streets makes a gps receiver and software you can plug into your laptop or pda for under 0, and it talks too.

Why are people and car makers so navigationally lazy? Your thoughts?

boating safety course…?

So we just got a little dingy and I was wondering if you had to take a boating safety course to paddle out in it, i don’t know if it depends on the place, but narragansett ri???
we have a motor/engine thingy on it, but it has oars, btw I am underage, i’m 13.
so do you have to take boating safety just to paddle out, or only if you are using an engine???

How to catch trout in the Salt River without fly fishing?

My father and I are going fishing at the Salt River here in Arizona. We don’t fly fish, and would like to know how, and where to go to catch some trout? Also, will the water be moving to fast for a bobber? Or even fishing off the bottom? Thanks so much, any info will really help!

Would you need a boating license and inflatable safety devices in an amphibious vehicle?

I just saw this truck on CMT that looks like a custom Dodge Ram convertible with a Chevy Corvetty rear end. The bed was converted into an engine compartment. Looked nothing like a boat but he drove down the road and straight into a lake and took off. Would he technically be illegal to drive his "truck" on the water without a boating license or would his license plates be good enough since it’s arguably enough a truck? Would he need enough life vests for all of his passengers?
