Description:
The Maiden Voyage.
My first world voyage was with the OROWA, a 14-metre Wharram catamaran. It was not a solo voyage. Gini, my ex-wife, was on board during most of the trip. We departed with NLG 8000 cash and I stayed away for seven years. En route, of course, we had to work to make ends meet. After the crossing to Suriname, the Caribbean was next. Following this, you travel through the Panama Canal to reach the Pacific. During three years in the Pacific we visited thousands of islands. In 1981, Stefan was born at Easter Island. Gini left in 1984 and I sailed the boat back to the Netherlands, which I again reached, after travelling 50 thousand miles.
