Ancient gods of Olympus, famous pirates and civilized conquerors welcome you to a travel to history. Birthplace of the Cycladic civilization, Naxos exercises a powerful charm to the visitors from their very first moments to the island. At the edge of the port proudly stands “Portara”, the entrance of gods’ Apollon temple and later palace of Ariadne that was built in the 6th century B.C. Moving on to the center of the island the castle of Marcus Sanudos, the remains of the temple of Dimitra, the semi finished statues known as “kouros” constantly impress the guests of Naxos.
