Description: White Marlin Open - World's largest billfish tournament.The White Marlin Open is the largest billfishing tournament in the world. Held in Ocean City, Maryland annually since 1974, the WMO attracts anglers from around the world to compete for millions of dollars in prize money for catches of Atlantic gamefish. The 2003 White Marlin Open was held August 4-8, and 398 boats vied for over $2,200,000 in prize money. That total included the largest cash prize ever awarded in any type of fishing tournament: $1,303,965 for a 78.5 pound white marlin.
