Welcome to the Great Britain Womens Underwater Hockey Squad site |
This website has been written for those who don't know the game. It has been created to offer a certain token of awareness of what really goes on below the surface. (The 'about' webpage gives more information on the 'SeeTheGame' project). If you have not had the opportunity to experience the game, then we hope you enjoy the content. If you have had the opportunity to experience the game, then you'll be respected for using limited 'dry-time' on a computer, before leaping back in the water. |

Welcome to the website of the Manchester Diving Group (MDG) one of the largest and - we like to think - BEST scuba diving clubs in the North West! We are located in the leafy South Manchester suburb of Chorlton and are open twice a week: Mondays for Octopush (a sort of underwater hockey) and Fridays for Training and Socials. Most summer weekends are usually spent at the coast. |
to the web site for Branch 18 - Huddersfield of the British Sub-Aqua Club. Having celebrated our 50th year, we are one of the longest established dive clubs in the United Kingdom. Now catering for divers and snorkellers of all needs and a healthy Octopush (underwater hockey) club, we are looking forward to another 50 years!! |

Octopush was invented in the early 1950’s by a member of Southsea BSAC. Today the sport has spread around the world, where it is more widely known as Underwater Hockey. It is a six-a-side game played in 10-15 minute halves and involves flicking a metal puck (the squid) along the bottom of a swimming pool with a pusher, while holding your breath! If this sounds like fun then read on. All you need to play is a glove, a mask, a snorkel, some fins and be game for a laugh. It’s great practice for snorkelling and an excellent way of keeping fit through the long winter months. |
