For all those who don't know where Port Leucate is situated I will try to explain it. Port Leucate is situated in the south of France in Western Europe. It lies on the Mediterranean sea at about 80 km from the Spanish frontier. This region is called the Languedoc-Roussillon. It is a very windy region. Statistics say that there are 300 days a year with a wind over force four. The dominant wind is the TRAMONTANE, no other wind has really a chance against it. It is a wind which blows from the north-west. This wind is created by an anticyclone over the south west of France and a depression over the Mediterranean. When the Tramontane blows it normally blows very strong. The Tramontane is associated with good whether. It blows all the clouds away. After a few days of wind from the sea there are normally lots of clouds, but when the Tramontane rises, it blows them away in a few hours. |
